Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, store and share personal information — and exactly what tracking runs on this website.
Last updated: 4 August 2026
Who we are
Sarsfield Engineering Ltd, trading as Equipt New Zealand ("Equipt", "we", "us"), is a civil and access machinery hire business based at 11 Waokauri Place, Mangere, Auckland.
We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and its thirteen Information Privacy Principles (IPPs). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and what you can do about it.
What personal information we collect
Information you give us
When you contact us, request a quote, book a job, apply for a credit account or apply for a role, we collect the information you provide. That typically includes:
- your name, company name and role;
- email address and phone number;
- site or delivery address;
- details of the equipment you need and the work you're doing;
- for credit account applications: company details, trade references, and — where a personal guarantee is given — the guarantor's name, residential address, date of birth and contact details.
We don't collect sensitive information (such as health, ethnicity, or political or religious beliefs), and we ask that you don't send it to us.
Information collected automatically
When you visit this website, some information is collected automatically:
- your IP address and approximate location (usually city level);
- device type, operating system and browser;
- the pages you view and documents you download;
- how you arrived (for example a Google search, a link, or an ad);
- whether you tapped a phone number or email address on the site.
Cookies and tracking on this website
We use cookies and similar technologies to understand how the site is used and to advertise our services. Here is exactly what runs on equipt.co.nz and what each one does:
| Tool | Provider | What it's for | What it collects |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | Google LLC (United States) | Counts visits and shows which pages and machines people look at, so we can improve the site. | Pages viewed, time on site, approximate location (city level), device and browser, how you arrived. |
| Google Ads | Google LLC (United States) | Measures whether our advertising produces enquiries, and shows our ads to people who have visited before. | Pages viewed, enquiries submitted, phone-number taps. |
| Meta Pixel | Meta Platforms, Inc. (United States) | Lets us show ads on Facebook and Instagram to people who have visited our site, and measures whether those ads work. | Pages viewed, enquiries submitted, phone-number taps. Where you submit an enquiry form, a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address and phone number may also be sent so Meta can match the enquiry to an account. |
| LinkedIn Insight Tag | LinkedIn Corporation (United States) | Lets us show ads on LinkedIn to people who have visited our site. | Pages viewed, and professional profile information LinkedIn already holds about you. |
| Vercel Web Analytics | Vercel Inc. (United States) | Basic traffic statistics. This one does not use cookies and does not identify individuals. | Pages viewed, device type, country. No cookies, no personal identifiers. |
These tools are also used to build remarketing audiences — meaning that after visiting our site you may see Equipt advertising on Google, Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn. We never see or receive your identity from these platforms as a result; we only see aggregate numbers.
How to turn tracking off
You can control or block this at any time:
- Browser settings — block or delete cookies. Every major browser lets you do this, and most offer a "block third-party cookies" option that stops most advertising tracking.
- Google — opt out via Google Ads Settings or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Meta — adjust your Facebook ad preferences.
- LinkedIn — adjust your LinkedIn advertising settings.
Blocking cookies won't stop you using this site — everything will still work.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry, prepare quotes and arrange hires and transport;
- assess credit account applications and manage accounts, including invoicing and collecting payment;
- keep records of hires, servicing and equipment condition;
- improve the website and understand which equipment people are looking for;
- measure and improve our advertising;
- send you information about our equipment and services, where you've agreed to that or it's related to a hire (you can opt out at any time);
- meet our legal obligations, including health and safety.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it's necessary:
- Service providers who help us run the business — our website host, email provider, rental management system, accounting software and customer relationship management system. They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
- Advertising and analytics platforms, as set out in the table above.
- Credit reporting agencies and debt collection agencies, where you have applied for a credit account or where an account is overdue.
- Transport and servicing contractors, where needed to deliver or service equipment.
- Where the law requires or allows it, including to protect health and safety.
We do not sell your personal information.
Information sent overseas
Some of our service providers and all of the advertising and analytics platforms listed above are based outside New Zealand, mainly in the United States. This means your information is stored on or transmitted through servers overseas.
Under Information Privacy Principle 12 of the Privacy Act 2020, we may only do this where we reasonably believe your information will be protected by comparable safeguards to those required in New Zealand. We rely on the contractual data-protection terms these providers commit to, and on the fact that they are subject to privacy frameworks that impose comparable obligations.
By using this website and its forms you acknowledge that information is disclosed overseas in this way. If you would prefer your information not to be handled overseas, contact us by phone on 0800 467 009 instead of using the website forms, and let us know.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires. In practice:
- enquiry and quote records — generally up to 2 years;
- hire, account and financial records — at least 7 years, as required by tax law;
- credit applications and guarantees — for the life of the account and 7 years after it closes;
- website analytics — retained by the platforms above according to their own settings, typically 14 months for Google Analytics.
When we no longer need information, we securely destroy or de-identify it.
Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, unauthorised access, misuse or disclosure. That includes restricting access to those who need it, using reputable providers with encrypted connections, and reviewing our systems.
If a privacy breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
Your rights: access and correction
You have the right to ask us:
- what personal information we hold about you, and to be given a copy (IPP 6); and
- to correct it if it's wrong, incomplete or out of date (IPP 7).
Contact our Privacy Officer using the details below. There's no charge, and we'll respond within 20 working days as the Act requires. We may need to verify your identity first.
You can also ask us to stop sending you marketing at any time — either reply to any message asking to be removed, or contact us directly.
Children
This website and our services are aimed at businesses and adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer first — we take complaints seriously and will work to resolve them promptly.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner: privacy.org.nz · 0800 803 909.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example if we start using a new analytics or advertising tool. The current version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
