These trench rollers are perfect for utility and service work — especially trench work where space, fumes and safety are a concern and you would prefer not to have a person in the hole. Trench rollers solve a specific problem: compacting inside trenches and other confined excavations without putting a person in the hole. Our 1.4T Ammann RW1575 is fully remote controlled, so the operator stays safely on the bank away from fumes, cave-in risk and vibration. At 640–850 mm operating width it drops into standard service trenches, and its sheepsfoot (padfoot) drums deliver deep, kneading compaction that’s ideal for cohesive soils like Auckland clay.
That makes this the right machine for utility and service trench backfill, foundation sub-bases, road and car park subgrades, and any backfill work in clay-heavy ground. With up to 75 kN of centrifugal force and 50% climbing ability, it out-compacts plate compactors and rammers in far fewer passes.
